Katchina Supper Club Sweet Potato Wedges

Sweet Potato Wedges with Sour Creme – by Katchina Supper Club

This is a very simple to prepare and delicious, Cajun food style snack – ideal for parties, BBQs or as a little starter.“Cajun” stands for the descendants of French colonists from Canada. Some of them settled down in Southern Louisiana after they had lost their lands in a not so friendly meet-up with the Brits in the 18th century. This way, French cooking traditions got mixed with local cuisine and ingredients, which created the Cajun food style.

Sweet potatoes

Sour creme or créme fraiche

Organic lime (you need the juice and the grated peel)

Fresh red chili

Ground coriander

Sea salt

Olive oil

  1. Wash the sweet potatoes and cut into wedges (without peeling them)
  2. Preheat the oven to 200°C
  3. Grease a baking tray with olive oil (or use baking paper), spread the sweet potato wedges on it, season with ground coriander and sea salt and sprinkle with olive oil
  4. Bake the potatoes for 20-30 minutes, depending on size, and let them cool
  5. Mix the sour creme with lime juice and grated lime peel, season with pepper, salt and a pinch of sugar
  6. Finely chop the chili, arrange the sweet potato wedges with the sour creme in glasses or on plates and sprinkle with the chopped chilis
